It’s an understatement to say that by nature I’m a bit of a book addict. While many people may think it’s fun to joke that the residents of Los Angeles don’t even know *how* to read, you and I both know that there are a gazillion absolutely incredible places for bibliophiles to get their book fix in this town. After the jump is a listing of some of the most unique *specialty* book stores to be found in Los Angeles. Whether you’re looking for the latest in Armenian fiction or a manual on how to meet code when building a home, if these vendors don’t have the topic you’re looking for in stock, they can probably point you towards someone who might.

Hi. Thanks for a great resource list. I don’t see Archives in the list of religious bookstores. They’re on Washington in Pasadena and carry a large selection of Christian books, many of them at the seminary level. The books are primarily used and they buy as well as sell. They’re a good resource. Maybe you’d like to add them.
It’s a shame we don’t seem to have a really amazing selection of math books anywhere. I’d love to stand corrected on this by more knowledgeable readers.
This is great thank you!
Thank you for the listing….
Another great one is Archives in Pasadena on Washington. This would be under the religious section of your list. New and used and a big selection.

Several of the book shops you listed I have never been to but I will now begin my exploration..
Thanks again
I would think that some of the larger independant (not chain) stores would be a nice addition to your list for example Vromans in Pasadena.

Everything theater and film.
What about The Library Store in the Central Library. They have great autographed books, used books and others. All sales benefit the Los Angeles Public Library too.
