Our Halloween Coffin Hunt was such a blast… with the help of the Los Angeles Federal Credit Union and More LA Than, we’re continuing our brand of family friendly local sight-discoverin’ and prize-winnin’ fun into Christmas and Hanukkah!
$300 in PRIZE VALUES AWARDED! Including: passes to LA Conservancy city tours (We love LAC!); gift certificates for the historic and delicious Apple Pan restaurant; AMC movie passes; handy Cost Plus and Walgreens gift certificates; plus lots more festive stuff!!!
FIRST LOCATION:We ventured off the beaten path and spent a day relaxing in nature for this hunt. If you’ve never been to Peter Strauss Ranch, you’re missing out! It’s beautiful!
From the official website: “This enchanting oak woodland has long been a source of dreams, visions, and memories. Inhabited for thousands of years by the Chumash people, this area became part of Rancho Las Virgenes after Spanish colonization. The original coast live oak, used as the marker in the 1881 land grant survey, still stands just west of the swimming pool. The upside-down letter “T” is still evident in the bark. The “vision of enchantment” continues at this site today with hiking, concerts, picnics, and art exhibits. Explore this peaceful refuge and create some memories of your own.”
CLUES TO GET TOThree sparkly white birds were hanging out the aviary with scrolls attached to their feet. When opened, the scroll said that Mrs. Claus was hanging out in the “OLDest PLACE in walking distance.”
SECOND LOCATION:Mrs. Claus was definitely suffering from jet lag after the North Pole commute, so she decided to spend her second day relaxing over food and drink in a hidden gem of a historical little restaurant and bar (it was once the local general store). Old Place Cornell is right across the Mulholland Highway from Peter Strauss Ranch, as demonstrated in the video below.

Congratulations to JoAnn, Paula and Kristie! :D
